How many grams of hair do I need by effect?

Hair weight is measured in grams and determines the total volume of extensions. The more grams, the fuller and richer the result. Every woman is different — it depends on your own hair density, desired length and processing method.

100 g
Subtle enhancement

Adds volume and slightly extends. Ideal for fine hair or those who want a subtle change. Suitable for shorter extensions up to 40 cm.

Medium volume
150 g
Medium volume

The most popular choice. Significantly adds volume and naturally extends hair. Suitable for normal hair and lengths of 40–50 cm.

200 g
Full volume

200 g of hair for thick hair or extensions 50+ cm.

250+ g
Extreme length/volume

250+ g for extensions 60+ cm or very thick hair.

How many grams do I need based on my hair type?

Your own hair type is the most important factor when choosing weight. Fine hair requires fewer grams, thick hair requires more.

Fine hair
100–150 g

Fine hair does not need as many grams for a visible effect. A smaller amount prevents overloading your own hair and the extensions will look natural.

Normal hair
150–200 g

150–200 g for normal hair. The most commonly ordered weight.

Thick hair
200–250+ g

Thick hair needs more grams so that the extensions visually blend with your own volume. Otherwise the transition would be visible.

How many grams do I need for clip-in vs. tape-in?

The processing method affects how many grams you will need for the same visual effect.

Clip-in

Clip-in hair is attached with clips and usually requires 20–30% more grams for a full effect, because it is concentrated in fewer strands. The advantage is easy application and the option to remove daily. For a full effect on normal hair, expect 180–220 g.

Tape-in

Tape-in hair is distributed more evenly across the entire head, so fewer grams are needed for the same visual effect. Application is done by a stylist and lasts 6–8 weeks before re-taping. For normal hair, 120–160 g is sufficient.

Most frequently asked questions about hair weight

How many grams do I need for a full head?
For a full head, it depends on your hair density. Fine hair: 100–150 g, normal: 150–200 g, thick: 200–250+ g. Most clients choose 150 g for a natural result.
Is 100 grams of hair enough?
100 g is enough for subtle volume enhancement or for fine hair. For significant lengthening or full volume, we recommend 150 g or more.
What is the difference in weight between clip-in and tape-in?
Clip-in hair requires 20–30% more grams than tape-in for the same effect. Tape-in distributes more evenly, so less material is needed.
How does weight affect price?
Price is directly proportional to weight — 200 g costs twice as much as 100 g of the same hair type. That is why it is important to choose the right amount and not waste.
Can I purchase more hair later?
Yes, you can purchase additional hair of the same type and color at any time. However, we recommend ordering a sufficient amount at once, as shades may vary slightly between batches.
How many grams for a short extension (10–20 cm)?
For a short extension of 10–20 cm, fewer grams are needed — for fine hair 80–100 g, for normal 100–130 g. The shorter the extension, the less material you need.
How many grams of hair do I need for a 20 cm extension?
For a 20 cm extension, you need approximately 120–160 g depending on your hair density and chosen method. Fine hair: 100–120 g, normal: 120–150 g, thick: 150–180 g. Use our weight calculator for an exact calculation.
